The newly designed organ system of St. Antonius in Dusseldorf-Oberkassel consists of three spatially separated instruments. Already in 2012, the choir organ in the transept was completed, the consecration of the main organ took place in 2016, and the installation of a Fernwerk positioned above the dome in the crossing followed in 2018.
The main organ consistently has single-tone controls, the cone chests used for this come partly from the predecessor organs of St. Anthony and the Christ the King Church, some of them were rebuilt. Likewise, about 70 percent of the pipes from these organs are reused in the new concept.
As an orientation base for an organ with recognizable contemporary profile, we chose the style of the early 20th century. This is characterized on the one hand by rich, late romantic basic voices, but on the other hand in overtone registers and mixtures where already brightness and transparency can be seen. The interest in versatile new, even experimental music is shown by the presence of several percussion stops (Carillon, Marimba, vibraphone, Kern Kern from Kerpen) and in the numerous technical possibilities of single tone control in connection with the system Sinua.
The project was developed and assisted by OSV Prof. Reiner Schuhenn, Cologne, with the assistance and advice of OSV. In 2015 OSV Ansgar Wallenhorst from Ratingen took over this task.
